Epoxy resin and water-soluble PVA experiment. I built a working transparent engine. I've 3D-printed the bore and ports of the 2-stroke cylinder with PVA-filament. I then built a mold and poured epoxy resin over the inner structure. Once the epoxy hardened, the PVA is dissolved in cold water. Some machining is required to get the desired dimensions. Next up is polishing to get full transparency....

Hi, i have apn6, i increased cilindar to 39.5 but its very quickly earning rings and losing compresion what could be the prob?
I have chain saws bigger than that lol , an orange peel texture promotes boundary layer separation , hence faster air flow knowledge is power .

Ik heb een vraagje heb zelf nu een parmakit 70cc maar hoe wist jij wat je moest bewerken met de dremel
Onderzoek en veel opmeten. De transferpoorten zijn vergroot naar spec van de meegeleverde voetpakking en de inlaatpoort is nu de volle rotatie van de krukas open.
Wat doe je met de pistonringen op 11:40?
Ik meet daar de ring gap op en pas hem aan naar de juiste specificatie. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de uiteindes niet tegen elkaar aan komen tijdens het uitzetten van het metaal en je zo geen warm- of vastloper krijgt.

@@OnnoPols-y8n Er zijn formules voor hoe groot de tussenruimte minimaal moet zijn. Kun je vinden op internet. Ik zou niet zomaar wat eraf halen, maar zorgvuldig meten en vijlen.

I'm still trying to process exactly how you did that so well. How you made the plug for the center. Thanks for sharing.
I 3D modeled the intake in CAD software and then used that model to create a hollow mold. The center 'plug' is made with compressed oil casting sand. When releasing the mold carefully, the sand is the exact shape of the center of the intake manifold. The outside mold is also made from oil casting sand. All sand molds together form the exact shape of the 3D modeled manifold out of air. The air is then replaced with the molten aluminium and it becomes an almost perfect part when it's cooled down. Changing the crank bearings to bearings that are 12 mm instead of 10 mm, means that the bearing on the drive side now are wider than the part of the crank intended for the bearing. that means that the clutch basket gets 2 mm further out on the crank axle.... How did you deal with that? Is there room for placing the clutch basket in the new position 2 mm out on axle? One would think the clutch would bottom out in the basket since it has no means of getting out in the outer bearing in the transmission case. Also, when making the seats for the bearing 2 mm deeper, how does that affect the sealings in the case, are there still enough material to make the seals sit tight?
Correct, the crank has 10mm to fit the bearing so the bearing itself has 2mm of space where it doesn't fit snug around the crank. There usually is a thick 1.5-2mm shim between the crank bearing and the clutch basket. I removed it. The clutch itself doesn't bottom out in the basket. Yes there is still plenty room for the seals to sit tight.

I do not have a decibel reading, but I can describe it as pleasantly loud, not obnoxiously loud. It has a pleasant, muffled sound. Not a shrill tin can sound.
I think the pinging may also be 24:07 the loose washer and nut on the crank :P

How's the casting holding up? Still holding that big carb out on a long lever like that? Love the route you went with the barbecue chimney and the hair dryer, that's sick lol
It's still in good condition. I have to say I haven't ridden it much but the carb was on there all the time while sitting in the garage.

That's very cool. I'm so glad I can 3D print aluminum now, because I know I would never go through all this effort.
At that size, you'd sure save a lot of money if you went through the casting effort. 3d printing is like only having a hammer sometimes and seeing nails all around you, but dang it's a great hammer
@@qoph1988 That part probably costs $150 3D printed in AlSi10Mg via CraftCloud. I just printed intake manifolds for a v12. Crazy how accessible the technology has become.
Aluminium printing is indeed becoming more accessible which is awesome! It might make sense to print it when you only make a single part. Buying all the supplies for the casting adds up quickly and it takes a lot of time. But for me the educational experience was worth the effort. And now I can say I casted aluminium parts in my backyard ;)

Precieze afmetingen weet ik niet. Het is vanuit de cilinder overgetrokken en op grootte gemaakt zodat de inlaat 360 graden open is.
